A Characterful Cottage in the Heart of Corfe Castle 

Leading off West Street, the front door opens into a generous hallway featuring an exposed Purbeck stone wall and plenty of space for coats, walking boots, or sandy flip flops after a day exploring the area. From here, doors lead to the sitting room, upstairs bedrooms, and the rear garden. 

Living room 

The inviting sitting room is tastefully decorated and designed for relaxation, with comfortable sofas and a Smart TV with streaming apps — the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. 

Kitchen & Dining 

The well-equipped kitchen and dining room is light and welcoming, with windows and doors overlooking the garden. It features a range of fitted units, a dishwasher, gas double oven with integrated grill and gas hob, large fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, and a dining table seating six. 

This space works equally well for leisurely breakfasts, family meals, or relaxed evenings together. 

Bedrooms & Bathrooms 

Upstairs, the main bedroom is bright and peaceful, with lovely views over the rear garden. It features a king-size bed, fitted wardrobes, and an en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower, wash hand basin, and WC. 

There is a second attractive bedroom with a large bed and fitted wardrobes, along with a third bedroom offering two single beds, ideal for children or additional guests. 

The main bathroom includes a bath with shower mixer tap, wash hand basin, and WC. There is an additional WC on the ground floor, of the living room. 

Garden 

From both the kitchen and hallway, doors lead out into the secluded and peaceful garden, a real highlight of the property. Step out from the kitchen’s French doors onto a flagstone patio, perfect for a quiet breakfast or relaxing drink after a day out. 

Curved Purbeck stone steps lead up to a tranquil lawn area where guests can enjoy sunshine throughout the day in summer, along with lovely views of the historic church. 

Location, Parking & Local Atmosphere 

Jiggers Cottage is located on West Street, the quiet street which runs from the village square. It is just a short stroll from the heart of Corfe Castle village, with its shops, pubs, tearooms, and walking routes close by. 

A parking permit is provided for one reserved parking space, allowing free parking in the nearby West Street car park, just a short walk from the cottage. Restricted parking is available directly outside the cottage for unloading. 

Cottage History  

Built in the 1680s using stone from the ruins of Corfe Castle, Jiggers Cottage is one of the earliest cottages on West Street and is rich in character and heritage. Parts of the property once served as a blacksmith’s outbuilding, while the front room was originally used as stables — details that give the cottage its unique story. 

Inside the sitting room, original hooks remain in the ceiling, historically used to hang straw and hay bales for the animals — a fascinating reminder of the cottage’s past that guests often love discovering. The cottage was thoughtfully extended to create a spacious country-style kitchen and dining area, which has since been updated with modern appliances while retaining its traditional charm.  

Adding to Jiggers' charm, guests may occasionally hear the distant whistle of the steam train — a nostalgic touch that evokes the “good old days of steam” and enhances the sense of stepping back in time.
